Hello everyone:
My name is Karen Matthew and I am a student of the BSN to DNP program. This venture has been quite the challenge but we have made it through with just about one year left to complete the program. Between work, this program, and family life, I currently spend most of my free time recuperating and supporting the activities of my 10 year old. In the past, I have enjoyed reading and travel. I currently work in quality control and have a background of both pediatric and adult patient care in both the inpatient and outpatient settings. This semester, I will be taking project II and Epidemiology. My DNP project is about the implementation of an educational intervention regarding elevated cholesterol levels in the cystic fibrosis population. Putting the pieces of the project together has been quite challenging, but things are starting to fall into place. My main concern currently, is the creation of an effective educational tool and a pre and post questionnaire that will accurately measure the success of that tool. I look forward to working with all of you again this semester and wish you the best as we continue with the program.

Hello class,
My name is Tyler Smith, and I am a BSN to DNP student for the FNP program. I have had DNP classes with most of you, so it is nice to continual see some familiar names and faces. I currently am a nurse at Lawnwood hospital in Fort Pierce, Florida while I finish up school. Some hobbies of mine include playing sports with friends, playing video games, and traveling.
I am looking forward to this class to build upon my project that was started last semester. This semester Iâ€m looking to narrow the focus of my project because it can be very broad at times. My project is based on decreasing emergency department visits and educating patients on primary care and primary care services that they may not know about. This project focuses on increasing autonomy for patients and giving them more or a choice in their healthcare needs by promoting education and knowledge on the topic of healthcare. In doing research for my project I have seen many issues that occur by lack of knowledge for our patients and my goal would be to correct this and in turn it would also clear up a lot of issues in the emergency room such as backlog, long wait times, and decreased staff to tend to patient needs.
I look forward to working with you all this semester. I wish everyone the best of luck, and I am excited to see all of your projects and how they develop over the course of the semester.

Hello Dr. Brown and classmates,
We meet again for a second semester for our projects. I’m happy to have Dr. Brown and my lovely classmates back.
My project is about recognizing fatigue in parents with children of special needs. Fatigue is a common experience among parents of children with special needs, as they often face additional demands related to their child’s care, appointments, and therapies. This can lead to physical and emotional exhaustion, impacting their own well-being and ability to provide care for their child. It is important to provide support for these parents to prevent burnout and promote overall health and well-being.
Our project is ongoing but I was able to take a one week break due to the semester ending. I feel as if I am beginning to get into the rhythm of the project and understand what is taking place. Last semester, I was confused and very unsure of myself in regards to my topic, my mentor and the site. Looking forward to a great semester.
