Tentative Dissertation Research Topic: The topic I will explore will examine the relationship between mental illness and homelessness in rural areas and how this relationship impacts access to services and resources for mental health treatment and housing. I became interested in investigating this topic after noticing the barriers homeless people who were experiencing mental illness faced when seeking healthcare and other services in the community upon discharge from the hospital. I will examine what causes these barriers and ways to address them due to the limited resources in rural communities.
