Aim of this assessment task: In this assessment you will be reviewing data and information from secondary sources to develop and answer a question about the prevalence and incidence of an infectious disease. A glossary of terms is included before the marking guidelines. Method: 1. Select an infectious disease you are interested in, that has data on the prevention and incidence of the disease. 2. Research information about the cause, transmission and management/prevention strategies of the disease and present this information as an introduction for your report. 3. Develop a question based on the data you have reviewed at step 1 and information from step 2. 4. Verify the question with your teacher. 5. Reference your data sources and research as you go. 6. Organise your data into table(s). 7. Analyse your data – identify trends, patterns and relationships. Your question may require you to use mean, median, range, probability, and measurement error. You may also be required to comment on the effect of sample sizes and other potential limitations of the data. 8. Present any data in a graph appropriate to your data and question. 9. Discuss your results and trends / relationships demonstrated by tables, statistical analysis and graphs, and link them to your question. 10. Answer your question. Support your answer with results and research.
