Define what is meant by “ethics in marketing” and why it is an important subject to cover in this course.
Explain how marketers need to act in an ethical manner with respect to different cultures around the world. For example, Chevrolet’s Nova translated in Spanish to “no go!”
In Chinese Pepsi’s marketing slogan, “Pepsi Brings you Back to Life” translated into, “Pepsi Brings Your Ancestors Back from the Grave.”
Explore cultural differences through the lens of one or more specific marketing topics. First, choose a marketing topic(s) that you want to explore from an ethical perspective. Following are some ideas; however, you may choose any topic that is interesting to you,
o Truth in Advertising
o Marketing Research
o Target Marketing
o Direct Marketing
o Consumer Buyer Behavior
Next, choose a country or region located around the world. Conduct online research to gain an understanding about the culture of the country. Include in the search your choice of a marketing topic.
Summarize your findings from the online search you conducted on certain marketing topic(s).
What did you learn about a country’s culture? What about marketing in a certain region in the world? What ways must marketers demonstrate ethics, such as choice of color or specific group of citizens, in the country of your choice? As a marketing executive, what recommendations would you have to a company that is creating a marketing campaign for the county in which you researched?
Your submission should be at least 1 – 2 paragraphs for each response to each question equaling a page in length with correct spelling and grammar.
